What I Spend
Series: Receipts
RECEIPTS: What I Spend Jesus tells a story where three men receive lavish amounts of money – years’ worth of wages – from their master. Two invest the money wisely and joyously. The Promise of Grace
For those who feel hopeless, grace offers a promise – God is for you. Your righteousness does not define your standing with God. He defines His standing with you out of His love for you.

    The Scandal of Grace
AMAZING GRACE: The Scandal of Grace Our culture operates on a system of merit – we get what we deserve. Grace upends this system because the very definition of grace is when we get what we do not deserve. But grace always gives us more than enough.

    Now, but Not Yet
STRANGE BUT TRUE: Now, but Not Yet The kingdom of God came with Christ, but we do not feel or see its full effects. It is here now, but it is not yet fully realized. We see this tension come out especially clearly in the healing stories in the Gospels. Although Jesus heals some people, He does not heal all people. We see some amazing things now, but we are still waiting for the amazing things that are yet to come.

    God, but Man
STRANGE BUT TRUE: God, but Man There is a doctrine known as the hypostatic union in Christ. Simply put, there is only one Jesus, but this Jesus has two natures: He is God and He is man. Paul explains this well as he points to Jesus’ human characteristics, like His death on a cross, while also asserting His divinity, saying that the very fullness of God dwells in Christ.

    One, but Three
STRANGE BUT TRUE: One, but Three
The doctrine of the Trinity says that there is only one God, yet He is three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From the opening pages of Scripture we see all three persons present. God is creating. The Spirit is hovering. And Jesus is the Word who is spoken.

    The Prayer of Deliverance
CONNECTING WITH GOD: The Prayer of Deliverance Today we focus on the phrase from the Lord's Prayer, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." Why do we keep making the same mistakes over and over and doing things we know are bad for us? The reality is that good intentions are never good enough. To break free from our temptations and bad patterns we need more than good intentions. Today we will learn how to break through our most common temptations and avoid the traps the evil one sets for us.

CONNECTING WITH GOD: The Prayer of Cleansing Today we continue in the Lord's Prayer with "Forgive us our trespasses.” Forgiveness is the greatest tool that God has given mankind for our life together in community with one another and it was modeled to us best in our Lord Jesus’ work on the cross. Through it we are able to have a fresh start and a clear conscience – both with God and with our fellow humans.

CONNECTING WITH GOD: The Prayer of Dependence

"Give us this day our daily bread" is God's reminder to us that we are to trust Him to provide for us – every day. In lean times and in times of uncertainty, we should not look to Washington nor to Wall Street to provide for us, but to God. In this petition of the Lord’s prayer we are saying that we trust Him to meet all of our needs – not just bread.

    The Prayer of Connection
CONNECTING WITH GOD: The Prayer of Connection God is a person, not a power. You can connect and relate to him personally because He is our Heavenly Father. But the word “father” can bring up all kinds of bad connotations, hurts, difficulties, and experiences. As a result of our earthly fathers’ fallibility, we may think God is the same. In this message we explore four characteristics of God as Father using The Lord’s Prayer, that will help you see God for who He really is.

    What’s Yours is Mine
THE TEN[DER] COMMANDMENTS: What's Yours is Mine Coveting is a dangerous sin because you can fall prey to it without anyone around you knowing it. It is first a sin of the heart. And it will make you miserable. How can we be content rather than covetous?
