Bread of Life
Bread of Life In our Gospel today the crowds are caught up in the moment, not seeing the big picture. They had recently been fed by Jesus, who had started a meal with 5 loaves and 2 fish and turned it into a feast for 5000 with leftovers. They had tried to take him by force to be their king. He got away and they pursued him. They wanted more.

    Can We Do It?
    Series: (All)
Can We Do It? "To live above with those we love, oh, how that will be glory. To live below with those we know, now that's another story.” Think about all those relationships you have, not just your “valentine”, but your family, all of your family, your neighbor (both literally and the way Jesus wants us to think), even those you have trouble with. How Can we live up to God’s standard for how we relate to all of those people? Do we even know what God’s standard is?

    The Chaotic Cookout
    Series: (All)
How do we respond to chaotic times? Are we even equipped for some of the toughest tasks we may face? The disciples were probably asking themselves similar questions when they were faced with a crowd of hungry, tired people. Jesus could have snapped his fingers and taken care of it, but instead he turned to the disciples and asked them to deal with it. We may want to take note of this story and see if it something we may need to apply to our lives today. Visit redeemerbythesea.org/online-worship for more information!

    What is the Soul?
    Series: Soul Keeping
Most people think of the soul as a nebulous part of them that is mysteriously internal to them. The Bible, however, often uses the word “soul” to describe the whole of who we are. The soul is what holds us together. When God creates the first man, who becomes a “living being” (Genesis 2:7), the Hebrew word behind this phrase is the word for “soul.” When any part of us is off – be it our emotions, our bodies, or our minds – our souls are off.

Humility is, of course, notoriously elusive. That’s why, of all the hard sayings of Jesus, few are harder than those about humility.

The Body of Christ is a common, yet complex term used in the Christian faith. Some may initially think we are talking about the physical body of Christ, as in His human form on earth. But the term "Body of Christ" actually refers to the members of His church, throughout history. Who or what is the body of Christ? Each Christian is a part of the body of Christ. How we work together as this body is up to us.

    Hearing Past the Familiar

The Gospel is always proclaimed by flawed mortals ~ otherwise it would never be proclaimed at all. The Gospel is also always heard by flawed mortals ~ otherwise it would never be heard. Our Gospel lesson for today is a powerful commentary on the wisdom of that statement.

    God’s Work – Our Hands
    Series: (All)
Jesus is at work in many places. We see him in the middle of the action and also on the margins. Our Gospel reading tells the stories of two different touches and the transforming power of Jesus’ touch. Being physically present is an important part of Jesus’ ministry. What are the implications of this to us as the body of Christ?
