We've tried to think of what you might want to know to plan your visit so you are comfortable. Plan Your Visit /What to Expect
- Two services each Sunday - 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
- The 8:30 a.m. service is more traditional - Hymns, liturgy, organ music, etc.
- The 10:15 a.m. service is more contemporary - Praise band with guitar, drums, piano, etc.
- The nursery is always open and staffed with trained attendants at both services
- Children's Sunday School - 10:15 a.m. service only
- Children are welcome in the sanctuary. We have some busy bags available in the back in case they get restless.
- Come as you are: wear what you are comfortable in. Folks attend in everything from slacks and dresses to shorts and jeans.
- Ushers and greeters are available at all services to help you find anything you might need
- Refreshments available - coffee is welcome in sanctuary
A typical service will last about 60 - 75 minutes. We have a printed bulletin available, and there are large screens that show the scriptures and song lyrics - pick your favorite way to follow along. There is childcare available at both services, with children's Sunday School held during the second service. Plan to hang around after the service for fellowship and meeting new people.
One thing people notice at Lutheran churches (especially at the traditional service) is that sometimes we stand up and sit during different parts of the service. This is based on a mixture of reasons ranging from tradition, respect, and worship. If you don't quite get it - don't worry. And if you need to sit when everyone is standing - don't worry. If you want to stand when everyone is sitting - that's ok too, don't worry. (Just maybe stand in the back though so you don't block anyone's view. )

Offerings
No pressure. No expectations. We believe generosity is a meaningful spiritual practice through which God works in our hearts and through His Church. We don't give to earn God's love—we give because we have already received it through Jesus Christ. If you're visiting, please relax and enjoy the service; there is no expectation that guests give an offering. Your presence is truly a gift to us. The faithful generosity of our congregation supports worship, ministry, care for those in need, and Christ's Great Commission of sharing the Gospel in our community and around the world.
Holy Communion
At Redeemer by the Sea, we believe Holy Communion is a precious gift from Jesus, where He comes to us through His true body and blood in the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of faith. Because Communion is both a gift and a confession of our shared faith, we encourage those who have been instructed and confirmed in the Christian faith (not just Lutherans) to receive the bread and wine. That said, no one is policing the Lord's Table. If you are unsure or would prefer not to receive Communion, simply cross your arms over your chest and one of our assistants will be honored to offer you a personal blessing instead. Children and all others who are not yet receiving Communion are warmly welcome to come forward for a blessing. We are grateful to share Christ's love with you.
