Eli Thomas

Pastor

Born and raised in Seattle WA, Pastor Eli earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Literature from Northwest University in Kirkland WA and his Master of Divinity from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary in Tacoma WA. He has served the LCMS as pastor since October of 2013. Eli is passionate about helping people discover the amazing gift Jesus gave them through his death and resurrection and encouraging them to share that gift with others. He loves preaching, teaching, and helping people grow in their faith. As a native of Washington, Pastor Eli is about 50% coffee and a passionate defender of Seattle soccer, especially the Seattle Sounders. He has been married to Jennifer since 2000 and they have two adult children, Gabriel (23) and Sophie (20) currently studying at Concordia University in Nebraska and California.

Kim Glassman

Campus Director

An original California girl, Kim has lived in Southern California her whole life. Adopted through Lutheran Social Services into a Lutheran family, she grew up in Riverside. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Riverside, she moved eastward to the Coachella Valley where she worked in government and politics for over 16 years. Specializing in operations and communications for small business and corporations after that, she shifted her focus to working to help people know Christ. When she's not working, she loves to spend time with her adult children, her friends, their friends, extended family - and her dog when she's had enough people time. She loves the performing arts, dance, and general creativity.

Lindsey Malloy

Preschool Director

Lindsey has been a part of the Redeemer family for the past sixteen years in various roles from Kindergarten teacher to administrator. Originally from the Bay Area, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at San Francisco State University before moving to San Diego to pursue her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Lindsey is passionate about nurturing children and helping them to grow into the best versions of themselves. When she's not immersed in all things Redeemer Preschool and Kindergarten, she loves to spend time with her own children, relaxing at the beach or exploring new places.

Rhonda Sutherlin

Director of Children's Ministries/Preschool Office and Church 

Rhonda grew up in Wall Lake, Iowa and attended Iowa Central Community College majoring in Business Administration. After moving to California, she obtained her life insurance and securities license and spent the next 25+ years in the industry. She has been the Sunday School Director for the past 12 years and a member of Redeemer by the Sea Lutheran Church for 15+ years. In 2016, she joined the staff of Redeemer Kindergarten and Preschool as the Office Coordinator and received accreditation in Early Childhood Development. In her spare time, she enjoys playing golf, cooking, spending time with friends and serving the Lord!

Kay Boland

Office Administrator/Church Life

Born and raised on a family farm in NE, Kay met her husband, Ken, in summer of 1984 while working at Lutheran Outdoors Ministry Camp in Oregon, IL. She graduated with a degree in Education and taught special education for 18 years in Kansas and Texas.  She joined Redeemer’s staff in 2015, after she and Ken relocated to California in 2014. She loves spending time with her 2 daughters, their husbands, and especially her 2 grandkids. She also enjoys walking at the beach, quilting, biking, reading, puzzles and traveling.

Kerry Vara

Office Administrator/Facilities

Kerry is full Scottish (but born in Jamaica), and moved to the US when she was five.  She graduated from UCSD in 1998 with a degree in Communications.  She worked in event management for the Holiday Inn & Hilton hotels before having three boys, Aidan, Cameron & Logan.  Kerry started working at Redeemer in 2017, but her children have been going to the preschool since 2012. Both Kerry and her husband, Scott, enjoy traveling, reading and sports: Kerry is on the board of he LCYO Baseball League, manages an adult kickball team, & enjoys watching her boys play baseball, soccer and basketball.  Their family is also joined by Ally & Roxy - their 2 dogs, and T-Rex - the Crested Gecko.

Liz Tudino

Office Administrator/HR Specialist

Born in the Central Valley of California with a quick with a quick 2 years in Pennsylvania at age 7, Liz mainly grew up in the Bay Area where she met and married her husband, Dave, in 1982.  After working 36 years in banking, Liz technically retired in 2015 when she moved to Carlsbad. She started attending Redeemer in 2017 and became a member in 2018. Liz and Dave have 2 sons, and a wonderful daughter-in-law, all currently living in Northern California.  Liz enjoys games like Bingo and Mahjong, crafting, and volunteers for various events in her senior community.  She is very interested in history, geography, and lately genealogy. Some of Liz’s favorite pastimes are travel, boogie-boarding, kayaking, and shopping.
