CHILI COOK-OFF & MOVIE NIGHT – TUES NOV 19th

CHILI COOK-OFF & MOVIE NIGHT – Men of Redeemer. Come on out for a night at Redeemer and vote for the RBTS Men’s Chili Champion. Men, battle it out for the coveted RBTS Grand Prize by bringing your famous chili to a Chili Cook-off, on Tues., Nov. 19^th at 5:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone is welcome to come and bring your favorite chili fixins. Following the potluck, we will watch the movie “Unsung Hero” based on a true story about a mother’s faith against all odds.

HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF EFFORT: Thank you, Redeemer by the Sea. Due to your generosity, $7000 was collected during this campaign. With the $5000 match from Redeemer’ Mission Funds, a check was sent for $12,000 for Hurricane relief.

CLOTHING RECYCLING BIN

Redeemer by the Sea is partnering with Good Use Clothing and Shoes to recycle old clothing, shoes, accessories, and linens. This family business services the bins weekly, and then sorts the textiles to send items either to local thrift shops, or to be reused for rags, insulation, etc. The goal is to keep textiles out of landfills and raise funds for RBTS. The bin is across from the preschool gate, so clean out your closets! More information here: Good Use Clothing & Shoes

Solutions for Change – Goodie Bags & Farmboxes

A supply of Goodie bags from Redeemer by the Sea were delivered to Solutions for Change to be distributed.

Also – As you may or may not know, Solutions for Change has a farm! Solutions Farms provides work development training for the formerly homeless families in their program and funds the transformation of these families.

Pre-Covid, they sold their lettuce to local restaurants. Unfortunately, with business shut downs, they lost these accounts, and a valuable source of funding for their program. They needed to get creative, so they quickly pivoted, partnering with local fruit and vegetable farmers to come out with their own CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Box – Solutions FarmBox!

Solutions will deliver a FarmBox with organic fruits and vegetables straight to your front door. The box includes our 100% organic spring mix with local farm fresh veggies and fruit such as avocados, apples, oranges, tomatoes, zucchinis, spinach, strawberries etc.

To continue to serve those in need, they offer this CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box for purchase on their website, and 100% of the proceeds go towards solving family homeless at Solutions for Change. If you would like to purchase a box click here.

North County Food Bank Donation

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the North County Food Bank matching opportunity. We had a total of $1,825 donated, and along with the $1,500 from Redeemer there was a total of $3,325 sent to the Food Bank – that should provide 16,625 meals! Way to go!

Easter Photo Challenge Recap

During Easter Week Redeemer asked the congregation to share photos of their Easter week celebrations and we would donate $5 per photo shared. We had 23 photos shared and will up the donation to $250 to the San Diego Foundation COVID-19 Community Response Fund. Thank you to the members who shared their photos (VIEW HERE).
