LORD’S SUPPER INSTRUCTION

Participation in the Lord’s Supper is for baptized believers who believe Jesus and His words (Large Catechism V, 33-37 – those who do not believe the words of Christ and do not believe the benefits offered in the Lord’s Supper may eat and drink judgment upon themselves by eating and drinking unworthily). So there is no specific age or grade to begin receiving this precious gift of grace and our Synod gives each church the freedom to make these decisions. What we don’t want is for people to participate who reject or mock those words of Jesus, “this is my body ~ this is my blood ~ do this in remembrance of me”.

In today’s world there are so many opportunities that tug at our families and their schedules. We want as many as we can reach to receive the most basic instruction, so, following discussion with the Elders, we invite
