Updated: May 24, 2022
We have updated our “Phase 2” reopening plan to reflect recent changes in local and state guidelines.  This plan supersedes previous plans and protocols at Redeemer by the Sea.  You can read it HERE.

Below is what you need to know if you are planning to come to worship in-person at Redeemer at this time:

YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY IS IMPORTANT
If you have underlying health issues or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 such as frequent cough, fever, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or recent loss of taste or smell.  We are asking that you please stay home at this time.  Also if you or someone you live with has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or if you have recently been exposed to anyone known to have the virus, please stay home at this time.  We continue offering live-stream and recorded versions of our worship services online.  You can read more from the CDC about symptoms of COVID-19 HERE, as well as people who need to take extra caution HERE

FACE MASKS

  1. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) strongly recommends that all persons, regardless of vaccine status, continue indoor masking.
  2. You can read more about the CDPH guidance for face coverings HERE.

NUMBER OF WORSHIPERS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING
As of June 15, California retired its “Blueprint for a Safer Economy” removing most capacity limits and physical distancing requirements.  This means that at Redeemer all pews and chairs are available for seating and no capacity limits are in place.

AIR CIRCULATION
Exterior doors will be open (weather permitting) to move as much outside air through the building as possible.

HAND SANITIZER
We have hand sanitizer available, but you may wish to bring your own for convenience and more frequent use.

OFFERINGS & CONNECTION CARDS
Currently no offering plates are being passed during the service.  A no-touch receptacle is located in the church lobby for worshipers to deposit offering envelopes and Connection Cards.  Online giving is available, and Connection Cards can be completed on your smartphone or from your computer at home.

HOLY COMMUNION
We continue to offer Holy Communion as previously scheduled – on the first and third Sundays of the month.  Pastor(s) and Elder(s) distribute Communion while wearing a face covering.  Worshipers approach the distribution area at floor level as guided by ushers.   The bread and wine are distributed in individual disposable serving cups.  Worshipers then discard their used containers in a receptacle provided.

NURSERY
Sunday morning childcare is now offered in our staffed nursery – during the 10:15am service only.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

We are offering in-person Sunday School for children in 4 year Pre-K to 4th Grade at 10:15am. Parents check their child into Sunday School in the church lobby then bring their children to the *classroom in the lower-level. (*on occasion, children may start out in worship with their families, then during the early part of the service be dismissed to Sunday School and escorted to the classroom.)

REFRESHMENTS & COFFEE
Refreshments are being served outdoors after the worship services.  Items will be individually wrapped, and coffee can be dispensed in a no-touch self-serve fashion.

RESTROOMS
Faucets and soap dispensers use touchless operation.

VIDEO STREAMING OF WORSHIP SERVICES
If you have any concerns or reservations about gathering around others at this time, we want to encourage you to stay home and take advantage of our online live-streaming and recorded worship services.  See: https://www.redeemerbythesea.org/online-worship for video links and more.

PASTORAL CARE
If you choose to stay at home, we will be happy to talk with you about alternative ways of ministering to you during this time, including receiving Holy Communion at your home.
