    Treating People Right
Jesus gives a summary of the entire Law in the Gospel lesson; to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. James points out this means no favorites or deferential treatment.  Accept, affirm and appreciate all people. This is your calling. May this morning strengthen and inspire your journey of faith and love.

Good Friday – A Rich Burial
    Suffering savior (2)
The ancient Tenebrae Service dates back to the 8th century.  It commemorates the sufferings and death of Christ with the progressive extinguishing of all candles until only the Christ candle remains.  The fading lights symbolize the fading loyalty of the disciples in Jesus’ hour of greatest need.  The six extinguished candles remind us that over the course of six hours, our sins extinguished the life of Christ who was the Light of the world.  Solemn as tonight is, we do not end in despair; at the end of the service is a hint of the promised resurrection.

    Knowing When to Keep Quiet
    Suffering savior (2)
Countless are our sins of speech, especially against the Second, Fourth, and Eighth Commandments. A silent lamb led to the slaughter, Jesus kept quiet when He could have spoken out. By suffering and dying in silence, He atoned for all our talk.

Now, in Jesus, God’s marathon plan of redemption was sprinting toward its climax. Peter’s answer to the question, changed His life forever. This morning, the question is posed to us.

    The Trials of a King
GBUhe pattern of the Chosen People Israel in response to their sin was to sacrifice. A sacrifice was an atonement for sin a payment for a debt owed. God desired a repentant heart. Repentance requires humility. Through repentance we humble ourselves before God. Saul and David are quite a contrast in their responses to their sins. This morning we will reflect on our response to our sinful lives, answer God’s call to repentance and trust in the grace and mercy of God in Christ Jesus.

    Who are you?
    Series: (All)
The concept we have of ourselves and our congregation is significant. Though distorted by sin, identity is a condition of creation and character. God creates all with gifts and abilities and loves all unconditionally. All people are nurtured, developed and valued in the context of family school, and community. Identity is painted by these forces in all lives as well. This morning, we are invited to reflect upon and embrace the identity we have in Christ.
