The Chaotic Cookout
By: Rev. Bil Hood
Series: (All)
How do we respond to chaotic times? Are we even equipped for some of the toughest tasks we may face? The disciples were probably asking themselves similar questions when they were faced with a crowd of hungry, tired people. Jesus could have snapped his fingers and taken care of it, but instead he turned to the disciples and asked them to deal with it. We may want to take note of this story and see if it something we may need to apply to our lives today. Visit redeemerbythesea.org/online-worship for more information!

But the term "Body of Christ" actually refers to the members of His church, throughout history. Who or what is the body of Christ? Each Christian is a part of the body of Christ. How we work together as this body is up to us.

The Gospel is always proclaimed by flawed mortals ~ otherwise it would never be proclaimed at all. The Gospel is also always heard by flawed mortals ~ otherwise it would never be heard. Our Gospel lesson for today is a powerful commentary on the wisdom of that statement.

Jesus is at work in many places. We see him in the middle of the action and also on the margins. Our Gospel reading tells the stories of two different touches and the transforming power of Jesus’ touch. Being physically present is an important part of Jesus’ ministry. What are the implications of this to us as the body of Christ?
